As per our previous update, LCU continues to run business as usual and there have been no disruptions to any core services..

Firstly we would like to thank our members for reducing their visits to our head office. By doing so you are helping keep other members, as well as our staff, safe.

No major changes have taken place since our last update but we wanted to keep you informed about what's coming next.

Zoom Meetings

Like many companies, we have implemented daily Zoom meetings for our staff to stay in touch whilst some of us work remotely. As you can see below - we take full advantage of the occasion to have some fun among all the serious business.

Please note - following the recent media regarding security concerns about business videoconferencing, we have implemented processes to keep sensitive information outside of these meetings and use other practices to reduce risk.

Contactless Limits: Temporary Increase

The payments industry will be temporarily increasing the contactless card PIN limit from $100 to $200 to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission by reducing physical contact with the payment terminal.

The new $200 limit will be progressively introduced across certain cards and at certain retailers starting in April 2020.

LCU Contactless Daily Limits: Temporary Increase

In line with the payment industry, we have also chosen to increase the total (cumulative) daily contactless limit from $200 to $500. We have given notice to our card services provider to implement this change and it should be done in the coming weeks. We will advise once this change has been completed.

Rest assured, we will continue to monitor your account through our predictive fraud systems and alert you to any unusual activity. It is vital that you continue to keep your card safe at all times to protect against theft and check your account often. If you lose your card or have any concerns about unauthorised transactions on your account, please contact us immediately.

Scamwatch Alert

Scammers are now trying to exploit Australians financially impacted by the COVID-19 crisis with new superannuation scams being reported to Scamwatch in recent weeks.

Scammers are cold-calling people claiming to be from organisations that can help you get early access to your super. The Australian Taxation Office is coordinating the early release of super through myGov and there is no need to involve a third party or pay a fee to get access under this scheme.
